Include complete Unicode font for bogl-bterm.
[bterm-unifont|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/debian-installer/bterm-unifont] support unicode font for bogl-bterm, Ben's Own Graphics Library - graphical terminal.

Ubuntu archive site: [http://ubuntu-archive.sit.kmutt.ac.th/pool/main/b/bterm-unifont/]

evaluation opinion: This for [bogl-bterm|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/bogl-bterm-udeb], since bogl-bterm have not been included in OpenSolaris, so we can ignore this package.

[fbiterm|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/utils/fbiterm] (FrameBuffer Internationalized TERMinal emulator) is a terminal emulator for the frame buffer console. . It uses libiterm (Internationalized Terminal Framework), Linux framebuffer, fonts loaded from X Window System font library, as well as BiDi text layout engine. As such, it readily supports BiDi/CTL and CJK languages.

fbiterm is part of the iterm framework created by the OpenI18N Advanced Level Utility Development subgroup.

fbiterm need kernel support "framebuffer", For details of framebuffer see also [Sun Framebuffer handbook|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-0438-10][framebuffer FAQ|http://www.sunhelp.org/faq/FrameBuffer.html]. Since it is console terminal emulator, the priority is low.

h2. {anchor:jfbterm}jfbterm

[jfbterm|http://jfbterm.sourceforge.jp/][Ubuntu page jfbterm|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/utils/jfbterm] (J Framebuffer Terminal/Multilingual Extension) can display multilingual text on Linux framebuffer. It can display ISO-2022 text such as ISO-8859-(1-11,13-16), ISO-2022-(JP,CN,KR), EUC-JP, EUC-KR (aka Wangsung), EUC-CN (aka GB2312 or CN-GB). It also supports UTF-8, and other coding system such as SHIFT_JIS by using iconv(3).

It supports 8bpp PACKED-PIXELS PSEUDOCOLOR and (15|16|24|32) bpp PACKED-PIXELS TRUECOLOR framebuffers. It also supports 1bpp, 2bpp, (and vga16fb on arch i386).

evaluation opinion: I recommend to use fbiterm instead of jfbterm, it can do everything jfbterm can do and more. fbiterm is actively developed whereas the development of jfbterm apparently has stopped long ago.

h2. {anchor:khmerconverter}khmerconverter
[khmerconverter|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/text/khmerconverter] converts files between Unicode and the legacy Khmer encodings based on fonts using the ASCII/ANSI range.

It currently supports plain text files, OpenDocument files (ODT) and HTML files encoded with UTF-8 and the ABC, ABC-ZWSP, Baidok, Fk, Khek, Limon and Truth legacy Khmer fonts.

evaluation opinion: Since we have not supported km_KH locale on OpenSolaris, khmerconverter is not required currently.

h2. {anchor:kterm}kterm
[Kterm|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/x11/kterm] is an X11 terminal emulator that can handle multi-lingual text. This release is based on xterm of X11R6.1. Download site of X.org : [http://ftp.x.org/contrib/applications/]

evaluation opinion: This is X11 application. It could be included in X app. We could co-operater with X term to integrate and delivery it.

h2. {anchor:libiterm1 libiterm-dev}libiterm1,libiterm-dev
libiterm is the next generation, platform-independent framework for making Internationalized Virtual Terminal Emulator. Implementing the platform-dependent part of this framework, you can easily build internationalized virtual terminal/widget.
The iterm project is led by Jiro SEKIBA of the OpenI18N Advanced Level Utility Development subgroup.

[libiterm1|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libs/libiterm1] contains the shared library necessary to run programs compiled with libiterm.
[libiterm-dev|http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libdevel/libiterm-dev] contains the header files, static library and symbolic link that developers using libiterm will need.

evaluation opinion: libiterm1 library is basic and depended by most of *Iterm. It should be integrated into Opensolaris for run i18n support term on Opensoalris.

h2. {anchor:libxiterm1 libxiterm-dev}libxiterm1,libxiterm-dev
libXiterm provides the X11 Athena widget for the Internationalized Terminal Emulator (iterm) framework, created by the OpenI18N Advanced Level Utility Development subgroup.

libxiterm1 contains the shared library necessary to run programs compiled with libXiterm.
libxiterm-dev contains the header files, static library and symbolic link that developers using libXiterm will need.

evaluation opinion: libxiterm1 libxiterm-dev is basic and depended by most of X framework i18n terminal. It's make sense to integrate them into Opensolaris When integrate xiterm.

h2. {anchor:xiterm}xiterm

X Internationalized TERMinal Emulator (xiterm) is a terminal program capable of displaying world languages in X Window System (Athena widget). It uses libiterm (Internationalized Terminal Framework) and BiDi text layout engine. As such, it readily supports BiDi/CTL and CJK languages.

xiterm is part of the iterm framework created by the OpenI18N Advanced Level Utility Development subgroup.

evaluation opinion: It make sense to integrated it. Currently resource is limited. Gnome-terminal could support i18n. Integrated xiterm later.

h2. {anchor:rxvt-ml}rxvt-ml
Rxvt-ml is color xterm replacement that uses significantly less memory than a conventional xterm, mostly since it doesn't support toolkit configurability or Tek graphics, but also since features can be removed at compile-time to reflect your needs.

Rxvt-ml is Rxvt is an 8-bit clean. This package contains three versions of rxvt: krxvt and crxvt, which support Japanese and Chinese characters, and grxvt, which supports both ELOT-928 (ISO-8859-7 standard) and IBM-437 keyboard translations for Greek character entry.

rxvt-unicode is Unicode-aware color xterm replacement. It supports using multiple fonts at the same time, including Xft fonts, and client-server technology to reduce memory consumption when using multiple windows. This package contains the program version with most commonly-used features enabled, including transparency, (16-bit) Unicode and FreeType font support.

rxvt-unicode-lite: the small version with only a few extra features and without Freetype support.

rxvt-unicode-ml :is configured with all additional features, including additional multi-language functions (direct support for Asian encodings and extended Unicode 3 support), and an embedded Perl interpreter.

evaluation opinion: rxvt family is a replacement of xterm, since xterm already have been included. So the priority is not so high.
