h1. About Sun Connector for Alfresco CMS

[Alfresco|http://www.alfresco.com/] is the Open Source alternative for Enterprise Content Management systems (CMS). The Sun Connector for Alfresco CMS extension enables you to browse, checkin and checkout documents, and to edit the documents.

h2. System Requirements

* StarOffice/StarSuite 9.1 or OpenOffice.org 3.1
* Java Runtime Environment 1.5 Update 6 or higher
* Alfresco account on a web server running Alfresco 3

h2. Download

* Part of the StarOffice and StarSuite Enterprise Edition.
* Additionally it can be downloaded free of charge from the [OpenOffice.org Extension Repository|http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/alfrescoconnector] or directly from the [Sun Download Center|https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=SCALF-1.0-MP-G-F@CDS-CDS_SMI&Origin=ViewProductDetail-Start].

h2. Installation

Before you install the Sun Connector for Alfresco CMS, ensure that your StarOffice/StarSuite or OpenOffice.org setup and the Alfresco server version meet the requirements.

The installation needs to modify the Alfresco installation, so ODF documents can be used for editing.

h3. To install the Components on the Alfresco CMS server

Some webscript files are provided that needs to be deployed on the Alfresco CMS server. For details please have a look for the Setup Guide.

h3. To Install the Sun Connector for Alfresco CMS extension on the clients

# On the menu bar, choose Tools - Extension Manager.
# In the Extension Manager dialog, click Add.
# Locate the .oxt file, click Open, and then click Close.
# When creating a new document or opening an existing, the window for the extension should be opened.
