h2. Uninstalling Communications Suite Components

To uninstall one or more Communications Suite component, change to the {{INSTALLROOT/CommsInstaller/bin/}} directory and run {{commpkg uninstall}}.

This command uninstalls the same products that {{commpkg install}} installs. However, it does not remove OS patches installed by {{commpkg install}}. In addition, it does not remove Shared Components.

{info:title=Note}
A fast way to uninstall a Communications Suite component in an alternate root is to simply remove the entire alternate root.

|{{commpkg uninstall \[_options_\] \[_installroot_\|_name_\]}}|

If you specify {{_installroot|name_}} on the command line, it is equivalent to specifying the {{\-\-rootdir}} option with either the specified {{_installroot_}} or the {{_installroot_}} corresponding to {{_name_}} in the software list. That is, the value must be consistent.

If you specify {{_name_}}, it must exist in the software list. Otherwise, an error is returned immediately. The {{_name_}} is looked up in the software list and is used for the {{_installroot_}}.

h2. Commpkg Uninstall Command: Options

The following options are used by the {{commpkg uninstall}} command:

||{{commpkg uninstall}} options||Description||
|{{--silent}} _INPUTFILE_|Runs the uninstaller silently, taking the inputs from the _INPUTFILE_ and the command line arguments. The command line arguments override entries in the _INPUTFILE_. Uninstallation proceeds without interactive prompts.\\
\\Use {{--dry-run}} to test silent uninstallation.|
|{{--dry-run}} or {{-n}}|Does not uninstall the Communications Suite components. Performs checks. Silent uninstallation _INPUTFILE_ is created in {{/tmp}}.|
|{{--rootdir}} _path_|This option is deprecated in favor of using the {{_installroot_}} or {{_name_}} command-line argument.\\
This option specifies the _path_ of {{rootdir}}, the alternate root used for multi-installation. Supported on Solaris only.|
