h3.Definition: Abstract Object Class
An abstract [object class|Definition -- Object Class] is one that cannot be used directly in an entry but must be subclassed by either a [structural|Definition -- Structural Object Class] or [auxiliary|Definition -- Auxiliary Object Class] class. The subclasses will inherit any required and/or optional [attribute types|Definition -- Attribute Type] defined by the abstract class.
One of the most notable abstract object classes defined in LDAP is the "{{top}}" object class, which is the root class for virtually all other object classes defined in the server [schema|Definition -- Schema].
