Open Source Software (OSS) has pervaded the application environment for several years, and will continue to do so. The benefits of open sourcing, community development robustness, community innovation and lower costs are attractive in providing the business with the applications needed. Technology users should continue to plan to adopt more OSS at all levels, but to pay particular attention to business function OSS applications. Technology users will need to assess and manage the risks involved (security, development path and functional fit), and the work needed to integrate those applications while maintaining process integrity and support for a process composition environment.

Sun's Open Stack Solutions are pre-integrated and tuned.
