Basic Discovery is the default discovery method. To discover gear using this method, the gear must have an embedded [Sun Service Tag|https://sunconnection.sun.com/FAQ/sc_faq.html].

1. From the Gear menu, select Discover Gear.
2. Start the service tag discovery process.
3. Click OK.
