You can enable or disable the management of all the gears from the Gear Module.

For enabling or disabling monitoring procedures of a gear, refer to the [Gear|https://xvm.sun.com/HelpCenter/gear-home.html] module in Sun xVM Ops Center Online Help.

The status of all the gears that are enabled for the Management Module are displayed in the corresponding gear management window. You can manage the following gears:

The server power, health, locator lights and notification status are displayed. You can select a server and click for the following details:

* General: The server details such as Name, Processor, ID, Serial Number, and health and power status are displayed.
* Capabilities; The hardware details that can be monitored by the Sun xVM Ops Center are displayed.
* Firmware: The firmware description and details are displayed:
* Connectivity: The Network Interface Card(NIC) details are displayed.
* HW Monitoring: The various thresholds for hardware health sensors are displayed.

Refer to [Monitoring Hardware Health] for the characteristics that are monitored.

h5. Operating System

The OS type, health, usage and notification detials are displayed. You can select an OS and click for the following details:

* OS Monitoring: The OS health monitoring attributes are displayed. You can set the threshold values for monitoring the health. Refer to [Monitoring OS Health] for the features that are monitored for the OSs.
* File System Monitoring: The type of file system and space occupied by each file system are displayed. You can set the warning and critical threshold for the usage of the disk space for each file system.
* Connectivity; The NIC details for network connectivity are displayed.

h5. Chassis

The chassis that has been enabled for monitoring are listed. As that of the server, the chassis health, power status, notification and locator lights details are listed. In addition to that, the number of blades that are present in the chassis are also listed. You can select the chassis and click for viewing firmware, blades status and NIC details.
