h4. System Catalogs
Catalogs are the lists of components that are installed on a managed host.
System catalogs show the current state of the managed host. The catalogs provide the list of components that are installed on the host.

Catalogs are created automatically after completing a job. The previous states are stored as snapshots. You can also create catalogs of a host at a particular point of time.
Catalogs can also be stored as a profile. The components that are installed on the host are marked as Required in the profile. The remaining components in the distribution of the selected host that are not installed on that host are marked as Not Allowed in the profile. Create a job and use this profile to recreate the host configuration on multiple hosts.
h4. Comparing System Catalogs
You can compare two managed hosts or two system catalogs for the difference in the installed components. You can also compare the current system catalog and previously saved snapshots of the same managed host to understand the difference in the components installed and uninstalled after executing a job.
To manage system catalogs, refer to the procedures in [Updates|https://xvm.sun.com/HelpCenter/update-home.html] module of Sun xVM Ops Center Online Help.
