Sun Inventory is a Sun-hosted asset management tool that uses [service tags|https://sunconnection.sun.com/FAQ/sc_faq.html] to discover your gear.
Sun xVM Ops Center lets you use the following methods to discover your gear:
* [Service tags|https://sunconnection.sun.com/FAQ/sc_faq.html]
* Manual discovery file
* Standard protocols, such as SSH, IPMI, Telnet, and SNMP
To manage your systems with the other modules, you must first discover and register your gear. Once you've discovered the gear, you determine which channels you want to use with the gear, and you register the gear with those modules. In some cases, a module will not be available for a piece of gear. This is because the module does not interact with that piece of gear.
