Alert Update: SD Campus Employees Encouraged to Stay Home Tomorrow, 10/24
===================================================================

Employees in the San Diego area are strongly advised to stay home tomorrow, 10/24, check in with their managers and attend to their friends, families and homes. Any employees who are forced to evacuate from their homes should inform their managers; Sun offers emergency-relocation assistance to affected employees. We would prefer if employees stayed home unless they really need to come to the campus.

Sun's San Diego campus and its compute-resources lab are functioning. However, their status may change depending on the unpredictable nature of the wildfires. Therefore, employees should avoid coming in to the campus until the fires are under control. Employees planning to travel to the San Diego area should monitor news reports and contact constituents in the area to decide whether to delay their visits.

ALL SD employees are asked to Check In at Sun. Please re-Check in at Sun if your status changes.

Below are resources for employees who may be affected by the wildfires:

* Check In at Sun:
http://webhome.sfbay.sun.com/security/CheckIn_Letter.html
* Local information and instructions:
http://cbs8.org
* San Diego County emergency-management information:

* Sun's Global Emergency Response Program:

Check in at Sun options if you don't have SWAN access:
Option #2 - Send an email

If you are unable to access the web form but have internet access, you can send an email to CheckIn@Sun.com. The email should include the following information:

* Your first and last name
* Sun ID number
* Your Sun manager's name
* The affected Sun facility
* Your current location
* Nature of disaster
* If you are safe or need assistance.
* If assistance is needed, please provide an explanation.
* If you are aware of the status of other employees who are unable to check in themselves
o Provide their names, the location they were last seen and their status.
* Include an emergency contact telephone number for you and your manager's email address.

Once your email has been received, you will receive a reply stating your notification has been received.

Option #3 - Use the telephone
If your are unable to use the web or send an email, another option would be to report your status by calling one of the Worldwide Security Control Centers for the affected area. See the list below for your Geo:

Americas

1-800-HELP-001 (US & Canada) - Primary

Advise the Control Center Dispatcher that you are "Checking In". The dispatcher will collect all of the necessary information from you.

The CheckIn@Sun program is maintained by Worldwide Security which works with the Human Resources department to provide assistance to
all employees in need.

Your SD Site Council is continuing to monitor the situation with help from our corporate Sun's Crisis Management Team. We will let you know if there are any
status updates.

Thanks for your support,
Jud & Susan
