What's New in COMSTAR?

The latest builds of the Solaris Express Community Edition (SXCE) operating system provide new COMSTAR features and functionality. This page lists the new COMSTAR features and the SXCE build you must download and install to take advantage of these features.

Note
The OpenSolaris 2008.11 release fully integrated COMSTAR functionality, with initial Fibre Channel support. For information on this release, go to the OpenSolaris 2008.11 web site.
  • COMSTAR FCoE and iSER Support in SXCE Build 112 – SXCE Build 112 includes COMSTAR support for Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and iSCSI Extensions for RDMA (iSER). A new target mode FCA driver provides FCoE  transport to a COMSTAR Fibre Channel port provider. COMSTAR iSER support requires a Solaris host with an InfiniBand Host Channel Adapter (IB HCA) to use RDMA functionality.
  • COMSTAR iSCSI Support in SXCE Build 103 – SXCE Build 103 includes COMSTAR support for iSCSI. The COMSTAR iSCSI port provider implements the iSCSI transport known as iscsit.
  • COMSTAR Integrated into SXCE Build 90 – SXCE Build 90 fully integrates COMSTAR functionality, with initial Fibre Channel support.
