Please use the following guidelines when approving activities and projects for the OSUM Activity Repository. The goal is to have quality content in the repository. We don't want to get too critical about the content entered but at the same time, we want to make sure the entries are useful to the OSUM community.
General Guidelines
Make sure the following general guidelines are followed.
- Make sure the content is for an actual activity or project that relates to OSUM and FOSS. Make sure the activity or project is NOT marketing material for any product or group.
- Make sure the content doesn't contain any inappropriate language.
- Make sure the content is comprehensible. Of course if you don't speak the language the content is entered in, you really can't check this.
Name
The name should adequately reflect the content of the activity/project. Just make sure a clever or humorous name is not used. This will hinder OSUMs from finding the activity/project.
Language
Make sure the language specified matches the language used for the activity/project content. For example, if the language chosen is "English" but the content is in Spanish, the activity/project should be disapproved.
Duration
Make sure there is an estimation in hours of how long the activity/project will take. If the "hours" designation is missing, this is acceptable. As long as there is a number in this field.
Goal
- Make sure there is a goal stated that relates to the activity/project outcome.
- Make sure the goal is not specific to an OSUM. For example, make sure the goal doesn't state some number associated with attendance, certifications, project metrics, etc.
Description
Make sure the description adequately explains the activity/project. After reading the description, you should know exactly what the activity/project is about.
Activity Steps
Make sure this field contains some explanation of the process involved in completing the activity or project. This is the most crucial field for others to be able to successfully do the activity. This field should include a very detailed explanation about how the activity is to be run or how the project is to be worked on. An entry like, "Present NetBeans slides" is not adequate and the activity should be disapproved.
