| h2. What's New in the Sun Connection Inventory Channel? Sun Connection Inventory Channel is now called Sun Inventory. On December 11, 2007, a new release of Sun Inventory was introduced. To see the known issues and what's new in this release, go to the [Sun Inventory Information Center |http://wikis.sun.com/display/SunInventory/Sun+Inventory]. On October 23, 2007, the following new features were introduced in the Inventory Channel: * More dynamic user interface * Ability to create teams to help organize your registered products, or gear * Ability to invite users to your teams, and manage the team members * More service-tag enabled products available for registration * Ability to automatically collect hardware serial number h2. What are the known issues? * The Inventory Channel works best with Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher. Users of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or 7 may experience cosmetic defects or usability problems, but all functionality is available. * CR 6614739: After session timeout, browser appears partially responsive (e.g., menus display), but nothing happens when actions are invoked. Workaround: Click the "Log Out" link at top of page, then log back in. * CR 6615984: Team Member cannot invoke "More Information" for gear. Only a Team Administrator can see this information. Workaround: none h2. Why do I want to register my gear? When you register your Sun products, or gear, you can use the Inventory Channel to manage your inventory of registered Sun products and create inventory reports. The [list of products that you can register|SunInventory:Products Available for Registration] is changing all the time, and more are being added as Sun Service Tags are embedded in new releases of Sun products. h2. You can register your hardware and software, or gear, with the with the Sun Connection Inventory Channel from within a disconnected or protected network where Internet, or cross-intranet connections, are not allowed for security and compliance reasons.
