Storage Libraries

Virtual Image Library Overview

Virtual Image Library is the collection of virtual images located under the same file system. The underlying storage for the library is specified by the directory and the supported connection environment. The supported access protocols for Sun xVM Ops Center are as follows:

  • Network File System (NFS)
  • Common Internet File System (CIFS)

Note -- CIFS is for accessing the Windows file system.

Types of Virtual Images

The different virtual images that are stored in a library are:

  • Virtual server images or the guest images
  • Virtual disk images or the ISO images
  • Appliance images
  • Backup images of the guest
  • Snapshots of the guest

Viewing Information About a Library

When you select a virtual image library from the Library section, the following information about a library is displayed:

  • Library information such as name, description, storage path, username, size, and used space.
  • State of the library. The different library states are:
    • UNKNOWN: The library cannot be mounted. For example, a Solaris 10 host will not be able to mount a CIFS volume, or a Linux Enterprise Controller will not be able to mount NFS or CIFS.
    • FAULTED: The library mounting failed.
    • OK: Mount is successful
    • MAINTENANCE: Library is in the process of initializing.
    • DEGRADED: The performance or reachability of the accessible library is not up to the expected results.
  • List of ISO images, guest images, and appliance images stored in the library.
