Virtual Image Library

To Create a New Library

Virtual Image Library represents the storage for the collection of virtual server images, virtual disk images and appliance images. You can create a virtual image library and associate it to multiple virtualization pools.

Perform the following steps to create a virtual image library.

  1. In the Sun xVM Ops Center interface, select Libraries from the Navigation panel.
  2. In the Actions Panel, select the New Library option.
The Create New Library window is displayed.

    New Library window.

Note -- The New Library option is available in the Actions panel for all the sections available under the Libraries.

  3. Enter the following details of the new library in the Create New Library window:
  • Name of the library.
  • Description of the new library.
  • Select the virtual pool that you want to be associated with this library.
  • Select the type of file system, such as NFS or CIFS. Based on the storage server, select the resource type.
A sample format of the path is displayed in the URL. For example, if you have selected NFS, the sample path format displayed is nfs://<hostname>:<port>/<path>.
  • Enter the hostname and the correct path in the URL. For example, if the shared path on the storage server nfsserver is /export/nfsshare, then the URL should be nfs://nfsserver/export/nfsshare.
  • Provide the username and password when CIFS resource type is selected to access the shared directory on the server.
  • Enter the NIS domain name.
Note -- This is applicable only for CIFS libraries.

The new virtual image library is created and appears under the Libraries section.
