Use Add Software Packages option to load packages of the format PKG and RPM. You can load only one package at a time. You can use Upload Local Components From a Directory to load packages of the format package, stream directories, tar file, jar files, PKGs and RPMs. You can upload multiple files at a time. You can use this functionality to upload entire contents of a directory. For example, you can upload the entire contents of whole EIS DVD or Solaris CD/DVD. You can also upload local components from an OS image.

Uploading Local Contents

To Add Software Packages

Before uploading packages, make sure that the packages are in the format of PKGs or RPMs. You can upload the packages only from the Satellite.

  1. Choose Manage Local Content from the Actions menu in the Update Channel window.
    The Manage Local Content window appears.
  2. Choose Software Packages.
  3. Select Yes or No for Security fix.
    If the package is a security fix for the earlier version of the software, select Yes.
  4. Choose the Distribution.
    Select the distribution from the list in which you want to add the package.
  5. In Parent, select the category of the package to be installed.
    The category can be either Local PKGs or sub categories created under Local PKGs.
  6. To select the package from the Satellite, click Browse in the File option.
    Select the file from the Satellite.
  7. Click Apply.
    The software package is uploaded and it appears under the Local components. The package can then be selected from the Components to create a profile.

To Upload Patches, Packages, and RPMs From a Directory

This procedure describes the steps to upload patches, packages, and RPMs from a directory. You can upload multiple files at a time.

  1. Choose Upload Local Components from a Directory from the Actions menu in the Update Channel window.
    The Upload Patches/packages/RPMs window appears.
  2. Select the Distribution on which you wish to upload the files.
  3. Select the option Upload from Directory.
  4. Enter the correct path on the Satellite for the file location.
    Ensure that the directory has only the packages that need to be uploaded. Otherwise, other files in the directory will also be uploaded. You can use this functionality to upload entire contents of a directory. For example, you can upload the entire contents of whole EIS DVD or Solaris CD/DVD.
  5. Click Submit to upload the files.
    The Upload Job is submitted. Click To View Upload Local Components History for the status of the upload.
    Sun certified packages will be ready for download from the Packages Component. Non-certified packages will be ready for download from the Local Components.

To Upload Patches, Packages and RPMs From OS Images

This procedure describes the steps to upload patches, packages and RPMs from an OS image.

  1. Choose Upload Local Components from a Directory from the Actions menu in the Update Channel window.
    The Upload Patches/packages/RPMs window appears.
  2. Select the Distribution on which you wish to upload the files.
  3. Select the option Upload from OS image.
    The OS images that are imported through the Provisioning module are listed.
  4. Select the OS image from the list.
  5. Click Browse to select the directory from the OS image in which the file to be uploaded is present.
    Navigate in the directory structure of the OS image to select the parent directory and click OK. You cannot select only the file to be uploaded. Be sure to select the parent directory in which the file resides.
    You can also upload the entire contents of an OS.
  6. Click Submit to upload the files.
    The Upload Job is submitted. Click To View Upload Local Components History for the status of the upload.
    Sun certified packages will be ready for download from the Packages Component. Non-certified packages will be ready for download from the Local Components.

To View Upload Local Components History

This procedure describes the steps to view the history of uploaded components.

  1. Choose View Upload local components History from the Actions menu in the Update Channel window.
    The View Upload local components History window appears. The uploaded components list is displayed with the Description, Status, and Created details.
  2. Select an item and click View Results.
    The details of the uploaded components are displayed.
