Configuration files are text files, binaries or non-RPM applications that are distributed to all managed hosts for consistent configuration. For example, configuration files of a Linux or Solaris machine determine everything about the environment: the kernel version, the bootloader, the file system, and the printers.
You can create sub categories under the parent Configuration Files and group these files for better understanding.
To Add a Configuration File
- Choose Manage Local Content from the Actions menu in the Update Channel window.
The Manage Local Content window appears. - Choose Configuration files.
- Enter the path name in Target path on server.
Specify the path where the files need to be installed on the managed hosts. - Enter a display version-name for the file.
The files that you add to a specific file declaration can be different versions of the same file. The Version value will be displayed in the Components list as a suffix to the file name. When you install this file on a remote host, it is installed under the full path name of the file declaration. - Type a brief description of the file.
- Select the Distribution to which this file should be applied.
You can apply the file to multiple distributions. - Select the category in Parent to upload the file.
By default, only the Configuration files category is displayed. - To select the package from the Satellite, click Browse in the File option.
Select the file from the Satellite. - Click Apply to upload the configuration file.
The file is uploaded onto selected distributions. Create a profile with this configuration file to create a configuration job.
