The Proxy application sits between the Satellite Server and the Agent. It acts like a big 'master agent' for all the managed systems. It presents a normalized "proxy domain model" view of the managed systems to the satellite. The proxy runs tasks scheduled by the Satellite's Job Manager, typically against the domain model, and can also forward tasks down to the Sun xVM agent.

The proxy also contains an http proxy which is used to route data requests from the agent to the data repository on the satellite. The proxy routes traffic when the agent is not directly network accessible to the satellite. A proxy is also used when the target machine is not on the same subnet as the satellite, such as provisioning an OS on a different subnet.

The proxy needs to participate in the following functional areas:
1. Offer a proxy domain-model view of all managed systems it is responsible for
2. Provide a local Image/Boot/DHCP Server for OS Provisioning
3. Provide a job sub-service capable of executing jobs locally or forwarding them to a managed coso agent
