Package Installation

Application Provisioning

In Sun xVM Ops Center, you can install simple packages or applications. You cannot install packages that require complex installation procedures.

Sun xVM Ops Center has a list of freeware packages that can be easily installed. Some examples of package that are already present are SMCapache, SMCmysql, and Cherokee. Create profiles using this packages and create jobs to install it on many hosts. You can create pre-actions and post-actions scripts to run on the host before or after installing the packages. You can also create probes before carrying out the installation. For example, you can create scripts to check the hard disk space before installing the package.

You can add software packages from the satellite to the Local Components list and install it on other managed hosts.

If the packages require user response during installation, it cannot be installed like other packages available in the Sun xVM Ops Center.
