Sun Software in the Clouds

Sun Cloud

[*Introduction*]
[*Getting Started*]

Sun Microsystems and Amazon Web Services are collaborating to offer a very robust and yet simplified access to Sun open source software running on EC2. Some examples of Sun open source software which are available are Glassfish Enterprise Server, OpenDS directory Server, and OpenSSO.

Benefits of Sun Software on Amazon EC2:

  • Cloud Compute Capacity: Rapidly deploy multiple instances of Sun Software on Amazon Elastic Computing. Horizontally scale instances based on requirement. Amazon EC2 allows you to rapidly deploy new and additional instances, eliminating hardware and OS build-up time and effort.
  • High Availability: Deploy your Sun Software infrastructure on the highly available Amazon Computing Cloud.
  • Security: Amazon EC2 will serve as a hardened, tested and monitored platform for your Sun Software deployments.
  • Support: Amazon and Sun Microsystems will provide full Support for the Computing Cloud and Sun Software infrastructure respectively.

OpenSolaris AMIs:

Sun Microsystems and AWS are collaborating to offer OpenSolaris on Amazon EC2. Now you have access to a free, open source operating system based on Sun's Solaris OS technology using Amazon EC2.
