Searching for Files
- To search for files on mediacast, type in relevant words in the search box in the upper right-hand corner and hit enter
- A list of files with names, descriptions, or tags that contain the words you typed in will be displayed
- On this page, you can refine your search by narrowing the scope in which to search for the words you typed in
- You can search within only the name of the file, the description of the file, or the list of tags for the file
- To narrow the scope, click on the drop-down menu next to the Scope label and choose which option you want to search on
Using the Menus
- On the left-hand side of the page, under the 'User menu', there are three other menus: a Media menu, a Tags menu, and a Contributors menu
- The Media menu has a short list of the most popular files (the most downloaded) and a short list of the recently uploaded files
- The Tags menu has a short list of the most popular Tags (the tags that are used the most) and a short list of the recently used Tags
- The Contributors menu has a short list of the most active users (the users that upload the most files) and a short list of users that have recently uploaded files
Browsing by Tags
- To find content that is similar to the files that you have uploaded, you can browse files by the same Tags that you have used
- After logging in, click on Tags under the 'User menu' on the left-hand side of the page
- A list of popular Tags will be displayed
- The more commonly used Tags will be displayed in a larger font size
- Click on a Tag name to view a list of files with that Tag
- You can also type in the name of the Tag in the search box to search for files with that Tag
Browsing by Users
- After logging in, click on User Directory under the 'User menu' on the left-hand side
- A list of mediacast users will be displayed alphabetically
- For each user, a list of his/her recently uploaded files will be displayed
- You can browse through the list with the Next button or the number buttons at the bottom
- Also, if you already know the username you wish to see, you can type that name into the search box and find the files uploaded by that user
