Ops Center 2.5

Ops Center offers a comprehensive management solution for physical and virtual system resources. This enterprise-class solution simplifies resource discovery and monitoring, provides operating system and firmware provisioning, performs comprehensive update and patch management, manages virtual environments such as Solaris™ Containers and Sun Logical Domains, and supports hardware management from power up to production.

The software offers dynamic work flow automation and enables you to manage hundreds of systems simultaneously. Its intelligent knowledge services and smart patching processes are scalable and provide a cost effective solution for automating complex system administration tasks in your data center. For example, you can manage and patch a variety of operating systems, including Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Microsoft Windows, and Solaris Operating Systems (Solaris OS) from a single web browser.

The following are some of the management capabilities available with this latest release:

  • Automated asset discovery
  • Create, manage, and patch Solaris Containers and zones
  • Provision and manage Sun Logical Domain (LDom) servers and guests
  • Provision operating systems
  • Provision and update firmware
  • Update Solaris OS, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE, and Windows operating systems
  • Create and export a number of OS update reports, including compliance reports
  • Manage assets, including configuration, monitoring, lights-out, and usage

Documentation

User Documentation

Ops Center user documentation is available on wikis.sun.com. Read the wiki tutorial to learn how the information is presented in the wiki, how to navigate, log in, add comments, subscribe to RSS feeds, and use the export tool to create a PDF.

To add a comment or export a page, you must log in with your Sun Online Account user name and password. You can export a wiki page or printable version of a section of the wiki to a PDF or Word format. To use the export tool, navigate to the page, then select Export to PDF or Export to Word from the Tools icon in the right corner of the page.
