Definition -- Access Control Rule

Definition: Access Control Rule

An access control rule (also called an access control instruction, or ACI), is a rule which may be used to grant or deny a user or set of users access to perform some kind of operation in the server. The Directory Server access control policy is comprised of the complete set of access control rules defined in the server.

See the Controlling Access To Data document for more information about the syntax used for access control rules and the operations that can be allowed or denied using them.
