The standard on Open Archival Information Systems (OAIS) is well known. It has been registered as "ISO 14 721". The document has been prepared by the collaboration of the Space and Aeronautic organisations and has been identified as "CCSDS 650.0-B-1". Link to the document. Or, there is a French translation

AMIA is a professional association dedicated to advancing the preservation, collection, and use of moving images through public and professional education. The AMIA annual conference provides an opportunity for colleagues and those interested in the field to meet, share information and work together.

Presented at SMPTE, and most recently AMIA, Sun's white paper proposing an economic model and approach to solving the "100-year" archive problem.

The Non-Profit Organisation TITAN promotes the interoperable interchange of Media Assets between IT systems. The group analyzes media requirements and available architectures to ensure that interoperability. Promoting interoperability takes the form of organising or participating in events, conferences, projects and publications. TITAN has called that dynamic "AXIS". The organisation of the European-Media-Wrapper-Round-Table (EMWRT) is one of the aspects of the AXIS project. The Wrapper theme represents the concept of Semantics. The Advanced Media Workflow Association - AMWA's mission is to promote the development and adoption of open, accessible standards and specifications relating to file-based workflows (including AAF, MXF and other formats), Service Oriented Architectures, and Application Specifications; to promote such Specifications worldwide, and to create high customer awareness of, demand for, and confidence in products designed in compliance with these specifications. The MXF Summit, Mastering the Tapeless Future, takes place 13 November 2007 in London, with associated AMWA meetings 14-16 November.

November 12, 2007 Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA) today announced 10 new customers that are storing vast amounts of digital content on the Sun StorageTek 5800, a new category of storage system optimized for large-scale storage of fixed data. A number of white papers and solution briefs are available. For example, the StorageSwitch FS Gateway solution provides standard file system interfaces for NFS, CIFS, WebDAV and FTP to any client or application on the network. This enables a client or an application to store objects on the Sun StorageTek 5800 system without the requirement of developing to the API.

For the past 3 years, the EU-funded PrestoSpace consortium has collaborated on technical solutions and integrated systems for digital preservation of all types of audiovisual collections.

The StorageTek 5800 client SDK free download comes with an emulator that enables you to test client applications without having to connect to a StorageTek 5800 server, and provides client APIs for Java and C to store and retrieve data and to store, retrieve, query, and delete metadata records.
