Advantages of Distributed LDAP Databases

• smaller databases make for simpler and faster backup and recovery
• process size is smaller
• process map traversal is faster
• shorter pauses during Directory Server checkpoints
• smaller databases can be housed on smaller hardware, maximizing rack space and power utilization
• greater scalability: as the number of entries increases, distributed databases grow horizontally
• capacity is more easily predicted in horizontally-scaled architectures
