"You posted this question in the knitting forum, but your question is about bicycles. You are more likely to get a helpful answer in the bicycle forum at [URL]. Or have a look at the list of forums at [URL]."
Also, what does "within 24 business hours" mean? Do you mean "on the next business day"?

I realize the forums are "developer" forums but I'm a Sun system admin not a Java developer. Maybe I should follow the "New to Java" or "Swing" forums, but I do not think I would get answers to any of my unanswered posts (sampling follows).
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5214440 or (same question) at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5214225 http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5180781 http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5105189
When I'm posting a question I usually search on a few "key words" first. Not just looking for help but trying to find the appropriate forum(s). Frequently I find nothing, sometimes a few unanswered questions, sometime the same basic question in multiple forums. Occasionally I post questions that are not answered for one or more weeks, I don't think 24 hours is enough to ensure the question will never be answered. Here are some unanswered examples:

I don't think you will ever corral the "community" into a few forum categories, but if that's important, I think the moderator needs the ability to move a thread to the appropriate forum and not just delete it. (The Apple II forums on Genie did a good job with this but the moderator(s) were on their toes, and the subject matter was much less varied.)
If your purpose is to encourage the exchange of information, maybe the moderators should periodically post a list of key words related to the particular forum. Might generate some traffic and set a good example for the rest of us.
clamage45, I have seen your helpful posts. Good job. Not everyone realizes the subtle differences between knitting and bicycles or even CMT|LDoms|SUN4V|SUN4U or Sun Developer Network|Sun Forums|Developer Forums|the new wikis.
Sorry for the long post, good luck with the moderation ... err ... I mean moderating.
