- Make visibile who blocked a post and for how long a user is blocked (e.g.in the user profile)
- Provide a way to enter a comment/reason when a moderator blocks a person. It should be possible for other admins to read that note (e.g. in the user profile)
- Make the blocked "from" field empty or put a default value in. The default value (empty value) should mean from the beginning of "today"
- The user should be able to see the reason as well as the moderators.

http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5288468
4/23/2008 Confirmed that the description content is static and not dynamically updated per the users authentication state. There may be an alternate solution, but this is lower priority than the other reported issues.

On the auto archival issue, I would recommend that you give some thought to the effect on external links to archived posts.

If the existing URLs work fine and the thread is merely set to read-only, then that will be ideal.

If you just "move" the archived threads to a special forum, as with the existing archive forums, it will change the URL and people arriving via Google searches or links in external content will not arrive at the expected content.

Given that most of the stale-thread-revival issues seem to arise from people landing on threads from Google searches I think this is a real issue. Setting that specific example aside, I know I often link to threads of interest in the forums, and I would rarely go back and check that the link was still valid.

I think that Google is smart enough to update links. I know there are threads in the archived forums which are google-indexed.

This auto-archiving feature is a feature I would like to see and even if it meant that a google link was broken for a week or so (and I am not sure it would be that long as googlebots seem to be feasting on this site regularly) I think that is a cost that is still worth it.

Also for what it is worth (possibly not much) I would vote the duke fraud RFE a 4.

Granted it can be a little annoying but honestly... I am of the feeling that if it is so important to someone to engage in fraud well... then they can have them. I mean it's just so silly really.
