Plug-in ProceduresThis page contains the following information: How to Create a New Cluster By Using This Plug-in How to Create a New Cluster By Using This Plug-inThis procedure describes how to use the Sun Cluster Framework plug-in to create new Sun Cluster clusters. 1. Prepare the hosts. For each new node in the cluster, follow the steps described in How to Prepare Hosts for Sun Cluster Installation. 2. Configure the N1SPS virtual hosts.
3. (Optional) Configure a host set for each cluster. Optionally, configure a host set for each cluster as described in How to Create Host Sets for Use With This Plug-in. 4. Run the "scCreateCluster" composite plan. Click the "create clusters" button on the "Sun Cluster" plug-in page, then, click the "run" button. 5. Configure component variables. The only component installed by this plan with variables that you might need to change is the "sunCluster" Configure the "sunCluster" component variables as described in Variables for Plug-in Component "sunCluster". 6. Select the target hosts. For each cluster being created, select the complete set of per-cluster "clusterNode" hosts as targets. 7. Set the plan variables. Set the following three fields, or "plan variables":
Refer to How to Prepare Hosts for Sun Cluster Installation for information about The plan for creating new clusters only attempts to install Sun Cluster software when it is not found to 8. Set the plan "limits".
This plan results in a reboot of each cluster node. And, the reboot step can be time consuming. Therefore, 9. Run the plan. Click the "run plan" button. How to Add Nodes to Existing Clusters By Using This Plug-inThis procedure describes how to add nodes to an already-existing Sun Cluster configuration by using
1. Prepare hosts. For each new node in the cluster, follow the steps that are described in How to Prepare Hosts for Sun Cluster Installation. 2. Configure the N1SPS virtual hosts. Create the required virtual hosts as described in How to Create N1SPS Virtual Hosts for Use With This Plug-in. 3. Update host sets for each cluster. For each cluster with a cluster host set, update that host set with the new "clusterNode" N1SPS virtual 4. Run the "scAddClusterNode" plan. Click "add nodes" on the "Sun Cluster" plug-in page, then, click the "run" button. 5. Configure component variables. The only component that this plan installs that has variables that you might need to change is the Configure the "sunCluster" component variables as described in Variables for Plug-in Component "sunCluster". 6. Select the target hosts. Add each new N1SPS virtual host of type "clusterNode" to the list of target hosts. 7. Set the plan variables. Set the following fields, or "plan variables":
Refer to How to Prepare Hosts for Sun Cluster Installation for information about how to set these two variables. The plan for adding new cluster nodes only attempts to install Sun Cluster software when it is not found 8. Set the plan "limits".
This plan results in a reboot of each cluster node. And, the reboot step can be time consuming. Therefore, 9. Run the plan. Click the "run plan" button and wait for the plan to complete successfully on each node. 10. Reconfigure all quorum disk devices. Whenever you add a node to a cluster, reconfigure all quorum devices so that the new node is added to Follow the steps described in How to Add or Remove Quorum Disk Devices By Using This Plug-in How to Use This Plug-In to Only Install Sun Cluster SoftwareThis procedure describes how use this plug-in to install Sun Cluster software on hosts without creating
1. Prepare the hosts. For each host to be installed with the Sun Cluster software, follow the steps described in How to Prepare Hosts for Sun Cluster Installation. 2. Configure the N1SPS virtual hosts. Create the required virtual hosts as described in How to Create N1SPS Virtual Hosts for Use With This Plug-in. 3. Run the "scInstallPackages" plan. Click "install" on the "Sun Cluster" plug-in page, then, click the "run" button. 4. Do not configure any component variables. 5. Select the target hosts. Specify the "clusterNode" virtual hosts that you created in the target host list in Step 2. 6. Set the plan variables. Set the following three fields, or "plan variables":
Refer to How to Prepare Hosts for Sun Cluster Installation for information about If the Sun Cluster framework software is already installed, the first two of these "plan variables" are ignored. 8. Run the plan. Click the "run plan" button. How to Delete Clusters By Using This Plug-inThis procedure describes how to use this plug-in to delete, or unconfigure, Sun Cluster configurations 1. Unconfigure Oracle RAC from each cluster. If any of the clusters that you are deleting include Oracle RAC, unconfigure RAC before you unconfigure 2. Remove all Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) device groups from each cluster. You can remove the SVM device groups by using the SVM plug-in for "Sun Cluster", if it is available. Or, 3. Boot all nodes into noncluster mode. You must boot the nodes manually. This plug-in cannot be used to boot nodes into noncluster mode. 4. Run the "scDeleteCluster" plan. Click "delete clusters" on the "Sun Cluster" plug-in page, then click the "run" button. 5. Select the target hosts. For each cluster that you are deleting, select the complete set of per-cluster "clusterNode" hosts as targets. 6. Run the plan. Click the "run plan" button and wait for the plan to complete successfully on each node. 7. (Optional) Remove the Sun Cluster software from each node. The "scDeleteCluster" plan does not uninstall the Sun Cluster software from any of the nodes. If you also How to Remove Nodes from a Cluster by Using This Plug-inThis procedure describes how to use this plug-in to remove a node from a Sun Cluster configuration of
1. Remove the nodes from the Oracle RAC configuration. If any of the nodes you are removing are part of an Oracle RAC configuration, remove the nodes from the While the framework plug-in will attempt to remove nodes from the node lists of all resource groups in a 2. Remove the nodes from all Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) device groups. You can remove the nodes by using the SVM plug-in for "Sun Cluster", if it is available. Or, you can 3. Boot each node to be removed into noncluster mode. Manually boot each node into noncluster mode. You cannot use this plug-in to boot nodes into noncluster mode. 4. Run the scRemoveNode" plan. Click "remove nodes" on the "Sun Cluster" plug-in page, then, click the "run" button. 5. Select the target hosts. Specify the "clusterNode" virtual host for each node that you want to remove from a cluster. Do not attempt 6. Run the plan. Click the "run plan" button. 7. (Optional) Remove the Sun Cluster software from each node. The "scRemoveNode" plan does not uninstall the Sun Cluster software from any of the nodes.
