Introduction

This cookbook is intended to assist you in finding procedures and information beyond the basic setup and administration of the Logical Domains (or LDoms) environment. It provides in-depth information on the various LDoms components, details specific specific features of the CMT systems that are capable of running LDoms, and finally documents advanced procedures to allow you to achieve more with your LDoms environment.

Why a "Living Book"?

We decided to develop this as an online book rather than a static publication (such as a Sun Blueprint or Whitepaper) for several reasons:

  • the content evolves quickly
The software and hardware components that provide the LDoms environments are evolving very quickly, with new systems and versions available often. A live guide allows changes to be made to keep up with these developments.
  • Community involvement and collaboration
We would like to foster collaboration and involvement with the many users of LDoms, and these get perspectives integrated into the cookbook, providing much greater scope and relevance to users.

We need your help!

If you feel you have information you would like to share to the wider community, we encourage you to sign up and begin to contribute.

Intended Audience

This cookbook is intended to be used by those familiar with LDoms concepts and basic administration. While some Solaris knowledge is important, much of the advanced information is provided in a step-by-step fashion and may assist in gaining greater LDoms and Solaris skills.

It is suggested that the user be familiar with the various LDoms Administration Guides and man pages applicable to the version you are running. You should also ensure you are familiar with any release notes applicable

How This Document Is Organised
