New Hardware Qualifications

This page provides the list of newly qualified hardware for the Sun StorageTek SAM-QFS 4.6 product that occurred after the product release.

Libraries and Drives Newly Qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6-03

  • The Sony CSM-20S library has been qualified for use with Sun StorageTek SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 03. The device type is 'cs'. The import command in SAM for CSM-20S library imports one tape at a time.
  • The IBM LTO4 tape drive has been qualified for use with Sun StorageTek SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 03. The device type is 'li'. Although no changes are required in /kernel/drv/st.conf for SAM support of the IBM LTO4 drive, the latest st patch is required.
  • The Quantum DLT-S4 tape drive has been qualified for use with Sun StorageTek SAM 4.6 Patch 03. The device type is 'lt'. Although no changes are required in /kernel/drv/st.conf for SAM support of the DLT-S4 drive, the latest st patch is required.
  • Intel EM64T 64 bit architecture servers are supported as Shared QFS clients on Solaris 10, Red Hat 4, and SLES 10 OSs.

Libraries and Drives Newly Qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6-04

  • The Sun StorageTek 5800 System Version 1.1 is now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 04.
  • The HP LTO4 tape drive is now qualified with SAM 4.6 Patch 04. The device type is 'li'. No /kernel/drv/st.conf file changes are necessary. However, Solaris 10 Update 4 is needed for st support of the HP LTO4 tape drive.
  • ACSLS 7.2 is now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 04.
  • The Sony Super AIT2 tape drive is now qualified with SAM-QFS. This qualification is for non-WORM support. WORM support will be added at a later data.
    The device type is 'sa'. Changes are required to the kernel/drv/st.conf file. These changes are:

    "SONY    SDZ-230", "SONY SDZ-230 Super AIT2 tape drive", "sait2-tape",
    
    sait2-tape = 1,0x36,0,0x19659,1,0x00,0;
    


    These st.conf settings can also be found in: /opt/SUNWsamfs/examples/st.conf_changes.

  • The Sun StorageTek SL48 library is now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 04. The device type is 'h4'.
  • The Sun StorageTek VTL and the following drives are now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 04: HP LTO3, IBM LTO3, STK 9940B, STK 9840B, and STK T10K.

    Note: Sun VTL release 1323 update 08 is necessary for Sun VTL and SAM-QFS to work properly.

  • Intel EM64T 64 bit architecture servers are fully supported with SAM-QFS, including SAM and Shared QFS MDS on Solaris 10 and Shared QFS clients on Solaris 10, Red Hat 4, and SLES 10 OSs.

Libraries and Drives Newly Qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6-06

  • The STK 9840D tape drive is now qualified with SAM 4.6 Patch 06. Both standard and VolSafe tapes are qualified. The device type is 'sg'. There are no changes for /kernel/drv/st.conf. However, st driver support for the 9840D tape drive is necessary. Solaris 10 patches for sparc: 136718-01, x86: 136719-01. Solaris 9 sparc patch 113277-57. PUT 0502S is also required for 9840D ACSLS support.
  • The SL3000 is now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 06. The device type is 's3'.
  • The following are all now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 06:
    > ACSLS 7.3
    > Fujitsu ETERNUS LT270 and LT250 libraries
    > Sun VTL 2.0
    > IBM 3592 700GB tape
    > IBM LTO4 WORM media
  • The T10000B drive is now qualified with SAM 4.6 Patch 06. Both standard and VolSafe tapes are qualified. The device type is 'ti'. There are no changes for /kernel/drv/st.conf. However, st driver support for the T10KB tape drive is necessary. Solaris 10 patches for sparc: 136718-01, x86: 136719-01. Solaris 9 sparc patch 113277-57. PUT 0502S is also required for T10000B support.
  • IBM TS1120 WORM media is now qualified with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 06. No changes to the inquiry.conf file are needed.
  • The Spectra Logic Python series of libraries (T950/380/200/120/T50/T50e) are now supported with SAM-QFS 4.6 Patch 06. The device type is 'sp'.
  • Intel EM64T 64 bit architecture servers are fully supported with SAM-QFS, including SAM and Shared QFS MDS on Solaris 10 and Shared QFS clients on Solaris 10, Red Hat 4, and SLES 10 OSs.
