DefineMaxQ

MaxQ Defined

MaxQ is a defined as the maximum number of a type of card (for example Atlas 10GbE) that can be supported before the card performance decreases. It follows general guidelines that 100 MHz of CPU drives 100 Mbps of traffic. However, in general, the maximum number of cards can be increased at the cost of decreased performance.

Mixing and Matching cards of different types

MaxQ is defined for a particular type of card. However, two different types of cards (say 10 GbE and PCI-E HBA) can be mixed on a server without exceeding the individual MaxQ numbers for the two cards.
