How to Add a Print Client on a Print Server With Solaris LP Print Manager

A print client is a system that is not the server for the printer, yet it utilizes configured print queues on the server. Adding a print client means you are adding access to a printer on a system other than the print server.

Note
A system can be a print server for one printer and a print client of another printer.
  1. On the system that you want to add access to a printer, log in and assume the root role.
  2. Start Solaris Print Manager. Choose System > Administration > Solaris LP Print Manager.
  3. Choose Add Access to Printer from the Printer Menu.
  4. Type the printer name, print server name, and description in the appropriate fields.
  5. (Optional) To set the printer as the default printer, check the Set as Default check box.
  6. Apply the changes and check Solaris Print Manager to make sure the printer is displayed.
  7. (Optional) Print a test page.
    # lp -d <printer-name> test

The output should show that the printer is accepting print requests.
