How to Add a Print Client on a Print Server With Solaris LP Print Manager
A print client is a system that is not the server for the printer, yet it utilizes configured print queues on the server. Adding a print client means you are adding access to a printer on a system other than the print server.
| Note A system can be a print server for one printer and a print client of another printer. |
- On the system that you want to add access to a printer, log in and assume the root role.
- Start Solaris Print Manager. Choose System > Administration > Solaris LP Print Manager.
- Choose Add Access to Printer from the Printer Menu.
- Type the printer name, print server name, and description in the appropriate fields.
- (Optional) To set the printer as the default printer, check the Set as Default check box.
- Apply the changes and check Solaris Print Manager to make sure the printer is displayed.
- (Optional) Print a test page.
# lp -d <printer-name> test
The output should show that the printer is accepting print requests.
