Fast Rebooting the Default OS Entry

Starting with the OpenSolaris 2010.03 release, Fast Reboot and Panic Fast Reboot are the default operating mode on the x86 platform.

All of the new features that were introduced previously are now enabled by default, without the need to use the -f option with the reboot command.

To fast reboot the default OS entry that is specified in the GRUB menu.lst file, use either of the following commands:

# reboot
# init 6

Note that both of the preceding commands require you to become the root user or assume an equivalent role.
