Demo Prep

This demo requires network access (any network).

Gotchas

None known.

Demo

  • You should be able to access the network. Verify that by running Firefox and visiting e.g. www.google.com.
  • Network connection is managed by the NWAM daemon. Shut it down by running svcadm disable nwam. You'll see the panel icon about the nwam daemon being unavailable:

  • Check whether you can access the network now.
  • Right-click the connection icon in the right corner of the top panel and select Properties. Note that "Configure network automatically" not checked. Check it. This would be equivalent to running svcadm enable nwam.

  • Wait a couple seconds for the panel icons to notify you that the network is back up and an IP address has been established:

  • Run svcs nwam to show that the service is on-line again.
  • Hover of the connection icon in the panel to see your IP address.
  • Right-click the interface icon NWAM configuration options.
  • Show the Network Interface Priority dialog:

  • Show the Favorite Wireless Networks list:

  • And how you can join an unlisted wireless network.

Demo Cleanup
