Abstract

This session will give you a headstart on using OpenSolaris 2008.11, the latest release of the OpenSolaris distribution from Sun Microsystems. You will discover the newest features in action together with explanation of some of the design decisions behind OpenSolaris. Where possible we will provide comparison with Linux during the live demos.

The following features are going to be discussed:

• ZFS and ZFS timeslider
• OpenSolaris networking basics
• User, roles and privileged execution in OpenSolaris
• Monitoring tools in OpenSolaris
