Attendance goal: 30 people, target audiences: sysadmins, developers, students

9:30- 10:00 Registration

10:00 - 11:00 What makes OpenSolaris interesting? (presentation) - Roman Strobl
11:00 - 12:30 OpenSolaris install fest - either in VirtualBox or on bare metal (installation excercise) - Roman Strobl + Martin Man

12:30 - 13:30 Lunch break (pizza, who's finished with eating can help others with configuration of OpenSolaris)

13:30 - 15:00 ZFS - revolution in file systems (presentation + HOL) - Roman Strobl + Martin Man
15:00 - 16:00 Differences between OpenSolaris and Linux - Martin Man

16:00 - 16:15 Coffee break (refreshments provided)

16:15 - 17:45 Lightning talks (presentations on various OpenSolaris projects/topics) - community

17:45 - 18:00 Wrap up, giveways - Cool T-shirts, USB sticks, etc.

18:00 - ? - beer and free discussion in some nice pub (we should reserve).

Miscellaneous comments

  • Preferred location is Sun office because the offices are quite nice and it will give the training more prestige and drive more interest. Other possibilities are MatFyz or CVUT (which seems to be pretty inflexible in things like internet access for attendees).
