The Second OpenSSO Community Day
The European Identity Conference kindly hosted a community day for OpenSSO enthusiasts on May 5th 2009 in Munich, Germany.
This was an opportunity for OpenSSO contributors, deployers and users to come together in an informal unconference setting. Being an unconference, the only rigid item on the agenda was to decide at 9am on the sessions for the rest of the day.

Abstract:
Central authorization management has gained quite some traction due to the pressing need for enterprises to enforce business, security, and regulatory policies unified across their applications. Managing Access Policies to applications centrally instead of separately for every individual application yields quite some benefits. It is not a new problem, but handling the vast amount of authorization decisions for all applications is at least to be considered a challenge. A solution where policies, access rights to applications and data (a.k.a. entitlements) are created and managed centrally has been developed using OpenSSO. How this came about and what the key learnings were, will be demonstrated during this session. You'll learn how the requirements of a large broadband operator that required a fine grained access control mechanism for all their internal users, a service to be offered towards existing and new business applications were met.
