JavaCAPS Horizons Labs

Instructions

Laptop Minimum Configuration

  • 1.5 GHz+ CPU
  • 8 GB HD
  • 1.5 GB of RAM (2 GB or more strongly recommended).
  • Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS

Required Installed Software

Important

The Labs will be delivered as virtual machines with JavaCAPS6 pre-installed and configured on a Windows XP guest operating system. This provides the most reliable development environment for the Labs

However, Microsoft licensing restricts how we can share these Windows XP guest virtual machines. Therefore we require all Lab participants to sign a form at the event which states that they agree to remove the virtual machine at the completion of the Horizons event. This is necessary to comply with Sun Microsystems' licensing agreement with Microsoft.

Many participants will have their own copy of JavaCAPS6 and all Lab content will be available to download and use on your own JavaCAPS installation after the event. However, we will not be supporting your own version of JavaCAPS6 during the Labs. This is due to the limited amount of time available. Many Labs require additional component installation or configuration which has already been performed on the Lab virtual machine. Unfortunately we do not have time to perform this for individual participants who may have slightly different installation settings.
