Workshop Topic: JBI Technology in JavaCAPS 6

Goal:

Provide an introduction to concepts defined by the Java Business Integration standard so that developers can quickly understand how to build composite applications which deploy to JBI-compliant infrastructure

3hrs 

Content:

  1. Presentation: Introduction to JBI concepts. 
    • Presentation which introduces the concepts of JBI and how they are realised in JavaCAPS
    • This presentation has already been recorded and is available online. Note: this presentation is given in the context of OpenESB, but it equally applicable to JavaCAPS 6. The slides can be customised to focus solely on JavaCAPS as needed.
    • The slide deck is available for customisation
  2. Hands-on Session: Building a simple application which reinfoces the concepts
    • This hands-on lab can be performed as a demo, an instructor led tutorial, or as a self-study.
      • as a demo, the exercise takes approx 1hr to complete
      • as an instructor led exercise it usually takes 2hrs.
    • The exercise has been recorded and is available online in four parts.
    • It uses some JBI components which are available as part of the initial JavaCAPS 6 release and some which are only available in OpenESB but which are expected to be supported in JavaCAPS within 2008.

Prerequisites:

  • The presentation simply requires the slide deck.
  • The hands-on exercise requires either JavaCAPS 6 or OpenESB
    • If using OpenESB, no further configuration is required
    • If using JavaCAPS 6 the following configurations need to be performed to install the JBI components which are not pre-installed.
