ISE Identity Manager Task Templates

This tutorial is part of the Identity Manager track within the Identity Suite Essentials program.



Description

This tutorial covers the creation and usage of Task Templates. Task Templates provide a interface for configure parameters of Workflows to meet requirements. This tutorial will configure the Create Task Template to require the user's Manager to approve the request.

Setup

The following steps need to performed to enable the demonstration.

Section 1: Create User Template

  1. Access the Admin Interface http://localhost:8080/idm and log in as: configurator / configurator
  2. Select the Server Tasks tab
  3. Select the Configure Tasks sub-tab
  4. Click the Enable Button next to the Create User Template item
  1. In the Process Types Multi Select, createUser should be selected
  2. Click Save
  1. Click the Create User Template link
  1. Select the Notification Tab
  2. For Administrator Notifications
    1. From the Determine Notification Recipients's from Drop Down List, select Administrator List
    2. Select Administrator as the Selected Administrators in the Multi Select List
    3. Select Account Creation Notification from the Email Template Drop Down List
  3. For User Notifications
    1. Check the Notify user box
    2. From the Notify User Drop Down List, select Account Creation Notification
  1. For Additional Approvers:
    1. From the Determine additional approvers from Drop Down List, select Attribute
    2. From the Approver Attribute Drop Down List, select user.accounts[Lighthouse].idmManager
  2. For Approval Form Configuration:
    1. From the Approval Form Drop Down List, select Approval Form
    2. From the Approval Attributes Table check:
      • user.global.email
      • user.waveset.resources

Demonstration

After completing the setup above, the following steps should be performed to complete this tutorial.

Section 1: Create a new User

  1. Access the Admin Interface http://localhost:8080/idm and log in as: secadmin1 / Passw0rd
  2. Select the Accounts tab
  3. Select the List Accounts sub-tab
  4. From the -- New Actions -- Drop Down List, select New User
  1. Fill out the user attributes:
    • Account ID: user2
    • First Name: Security
    • Last Name: User2
    • Email: user2@example.com
    • Manager: Administrator
    • Password/Confirm: Passw0rd
  2. Click the Save Button
Notice the Results after saving:
  • Request has been queued
  • Pending Approval by Administrator
    (the manager)

Section 2: Approve the Request

  1. Access the Admin Interface http://localhost:8080/idm and log in as: Administrator / administrator
  2. Select the Work Items tab
  3. Select the Approvals sub-tab
  4. Click the Approve ProvisioningTask Create user user2 link
  1. In the Comment Text Field, add I approve
  2. Select the Approve Button

Section 3: Login

  1. Access the End User http://localhost:8080/idm/user and log in as: user2 / Passw0rd
