Space Administrators Guide

As a space administrator your primary role is to "guide and nurture" your wiki space to ensure it progresses with focused intent. Per the Sun Wikis Policy:

"Moderating It's important to have a designated wiki moderator that maintains the organization of the wiki and nurtures it. The moderator should be a Sun Employee and effectively respond to ongoing decisions and questions that impact their wiki space. A moderator must also remember that the wiki is owned by the community first and foremost and must resist controlling it. A moderator should always try to "guide and nurture" instead of "command and control."

Here are some other guidelines for effective wiki space administration:

  • Place a watch on your wiki space (Browse Space > Advanced > Start watching this space) so you may be automatically notified of activity.
  • Quickly and efficiently responding to queries about your space especially issues relating to participation (write) access and offensive content.
  • Rally participation and encourage the community to be self-policing.
  • Proactively provide tips for effective use of the wiki to your space contributers and be available to respond to training questions.
  • Add a description about your wiki space (Browse Space > Space Admin > Edit Space Details). Similar to user profile, a well-written description connects users with similar goals to your wiki space.
  • Add an About page (example), and encourage visitors to contact you by leaving a comment here.
