Granting Access by Modifying Space Permissions

Searching Help

Space admins can grant write access or assign additional privileges to users so they may help manage a wiki space by creating, editing, and deleting pages, for example. Only wiki space admins may modify space permissions.

Please see our tutorial screencast on Mediacast.sun.com.
Note: Always use your Sun employee credentials to log in, as this entitles you to special privileges. Questions? See Logging In.

How To Grant Write Access and Modify Other Permissions

  1. Log in using your Sun employee credentials.
  2. Click browse space.
  3. Click the Space Admin tab (only visible for space admins).
  4. Click Permissions.
  5. Click Edit Permissions.
  6. Under Individual Users, enter the user's screen name and click Add OR to grant access to a Group, enter the group name under the Groups section and click Add
If you are uncertain of the user's screen name, click the magnifying glass icon. Enter search terms in the User Search window, and press Search.
  1. Check the buttons next to the user to modify permissions, such as granting write access.
Review the descriptions of each permission type in the Help Tips.
    There are two main rules:
      1. Anonymous users should not be allowed to create content (not even comments!) - you don't want to get your space bombarded by an army of spam bots, do you?
      2. Space admins are in charge of permissions in their wiki space. They can decide if they want just a small number of users to create content or if they let anyone (except for anonymous users - rule #1) create content.
  2. Click Save All.
