Administering Service Domain Manager

Interacting With SDM

Note
For this release of the Service Domain Manager (SDM) module, you must perform all tasks through the command-line interface.

Running Commands on the Master or Managed Host

You can run most sdmadm sub-commands any host in the SDM system. However, you must run the following sub-commands on the specific host to which the sub-command applies:

  • add_boostrap_config
  • remove_bootstrap_config
  • set_bootstrap_config_property
  • set_default_bootstrap_config
  • unset_default_bootstrap_config
  • install_managed_host
  • install_master_host
  • uninstall_host.
  • startup_jvm

Command-Line Shortcuts

You can use either the long or short form of any SDM sub-command.

  • The long form of the sub-command is usually a multi-word phrase that describes the function to perform. For example, install_master_host.
  • The short form of the sub-command is usually the first letter of each word in the long phrase. For example, imh for install_master_host.

Although the descriptions in the SDM information use the long form of the sub-commands, many examples use the short form. The SDM Command Reference shows both the long and short forms in the sub-command synopsis.

Identifying the SDM System

For most forms of the sdmadm command, you have to tell SDM what system to use. You can set the default system so that you do not have to use the -s system-name option for every command. See Setting the Default System.
