Communications Suite Component Patches

Communications Suite Component Patches

This page lists the patches currently available for each component of Communications Suite 5 and 6. If newer patch revisions become available, use the newer ones instead of those shown in the table.

When you perform a fresh installation by using the Communications Suite installer of Calendar Server 6.3, Communications Express 6.3, Delegated Administrator 6.4, comm_dssetup 6.4, and Convergence 1, you are at the most recent patch levels for those products based on the time that the Communications Suite version was released.

The patches on this page apply to both Communications Suite 5 and Communications Suite 6 versions of those products.

You use the commpkg utility to upgrade to newer product releases (for example, Delegated Administrator 6.4 to 7.0). For more information, see the commpkg upgrade command, which is provided in the Communications Suite Installer zip file.

About T-Patches

T-Patches are generated by Sun Support on a semi-regular basis to address issues raised by customers via Sun Support requests. T-patches exist for specific customer needs, and as such not all T-patches can or will be delivered to SunSolve.

T-Patches are released to SunSolve after the customers who raised the issues have confirmed that the issues has been resolved by the patch. This process can take several weeks which contributes to the delay of releasing any given T-Patch to SunSolve for general availability of access.

dssetup Utility - the table shows the same patch for the different platforms, but the patch readme shows different patches for each platform.

    From 118245-20 README.....

Xref: This patch available for SunOS 5.9_x86 5.10_x86 in patch 118246-20, and for RHEL 3.0 4.0 in patch 118247-20

Suggestion....I find the current tables a little hard to decipher. What I would like to see is for each "release" a "full" table showing each component and then if the component has not "upgraded" the comments would say something like..."See RELEASE" where RELEASE is the previous release containing the patch info. So for example, for Sun Java Communications Suite 6 Update 2 Component Patches there would be a row for Messaging Server, but with a comment column of "See Sun Java Communications Suite 6 Component Patches". My reasoning is that I can see a typical user (me ?) installing release X and then wanting to apply patches. So they would first go to the table they just installed (or installed earlier and now looking for current patches) and want to compare all of the components. If all components for a release where in one table, it would prevent trying to figure out "how far back" they have to go and figure out when/where things changed. The current tables have "forward" pointing references, but no "backward" references.

With the update today, the "dssetup Utility" row is now correct for Solars (SPARC and x86), but is still wrong for Linux. Linux's patch is 118247-21.

Any more thoughts on my 30-Aug post? i.e. I want to take my SJCS 6u3 fresh install to SJCS 7 and would like to look at one table to find what patches I need to install to get there.

Just chatting with one of our engineers, I'm going to try and put something together. But just to be clear, you couldn't patch up from say MS 6.3 to MS 7 Update 3 (can't patch across major version numbers (of a product), but you can patch for "update" versions, say MS 7 Update 2 > MS 7 Update 3).

My bad...I meant to upgrade the components of Sun Java Communication Suite 6u2 (not 6u3...sorry) to SJCS 7. So that would be dssetup via 118245-21 and MS 7u2 to MS 7u3 via 137204-11 in my particular case.

Another way that I could see user's using this page is to find a table of the Sun Java Communication Suite release they installed with the table containing the most recent patches for each suite component.

        Thanks for listening.
