Installation
Use svr4 Solaris package to install Command Assistant Gnome Applet.
- download the package tar file from [[here]http://wikis.sun.com/download/attachments/83953567/SUNWcmdassist.tar]
- tar -xf SUNWcmdassist.tar
- pkgadd -d . SUNWcmdassist
After you install the package, plese log out to current gnome session and login again.
- right click on the gnome desktop bar, and select "add to panel"
- select Command Assistant Applet and click "Add" button to add it
- Command Assistant Applet will be displayed on the desktop bar




How to use Command Assistant
Applet Menu
Steps:
- right click on the applet icon to display the applet menu
- select "Help" and click.
- close the help window
- select "About" and click.
- close about window
- select "Preferences" and click
- close preferences window
Expect:
- help, about and preference windows are displayed with correct information.
Change result language
Step:
- Currently Command Assistant supports Japanese, English and some Chinese document
- right click on the applet icon to open the properties window
- click on the "system" tab
- change the language. By default it will use the System Default Language
- close the properties window
- input a new search string to search again
Expect:
Command Searching
Step:
- left click on the applet icon to display the search panel
- type a command in the inputbox, like "man"
- navigate the results, and click on one of them
Expect:
- "man" realted results will be displayed corectlly
- detailed document page will be opened in the browser after clicking. In the same time, search panel will be hiden
- the document page is related the item you selected in the search panel
Changing search condition
Steps:
- click on the "preference" button to show the preference window
- or, right click on the applet icon and select "preference" menu
- by default, all the search criteria are unchecked
- click on the "command" checkbox
- close perference window by clicking "close" button
- type new command in the inputbox
Except:
- All the commands in the results list contains what you typed in the inputbox
Chaning the documents list
Steps:
- click on the "preference" button to show the preference window
- or, right click on the applet icon and select "preference" menu
- by default, only "solbook" is selected
- click on the checkbox to select/unselect document. I.e, select "solbook" and "javadoc"
- close the perference window by clicking the close button
- type new command in the inputbox. I.e, "jpanel" (java class name)
Expect:
- search results are related to the documents you selected in the perference. In this case, "jpanel" related docs should be displayed.
