About Sun Connector for SharePoint Server
The Sun Connector for SharePoint Server enables OpenOffice.org to cooperate with Microsoft SharePoint Services and adds support for the ODF (OpenDocument) file format.
The Extension allows users to search, browse, edit or check-in/out documents that are stored in the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
System Requirements
- StarOffice/StarSuite 9.1 or OpenOffice.org 3.1 on Microsoft Windows
- Java Runtime Environment 1.5 Update 6 or higher
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2003 (WSS 3.0)
- Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007)
Download
- Part of the StarOffice and StarSuite Enterprise Edition.
- Additionally a commercial version can be downloaded from the OpenOffice.org Extension Repository or directly from the Sun Store.
Installation
Before you install the Sun Connector for SharePoint Server, ensure that your StarOffice/StarSuite or OpenOffice.org setup and Windows SharePoint Server version meet the requirements (see attached readme file below).
The installation needs to modify the SharePoint installation, so that ODF documents can be used for editing.
To install the Components on the SharePoint Server
A setup is provided to install the software on the SharePoint server. For details please have a look for the Setup Guide (see attached below).
- Execute the setup file on the server, using admin rights.
To install the Sun Connector for SharePoint Server extension on the clients
- On the menu bar, choose Tools - Extension Manager.
- In the Extension Manager dialog, click Add.
- Locate the .oxt file, click Open, and then click Close.
- When creating a new document or opening an existing, the window for the extension should be opened.
