The point of the document I'm working on is to give a "cook book" on how to backup/restore MySQL databases (or even flat files) using ZFS snapshots.
Browsing the Internet, many people talk about this, but I didn't find a clean and complete document explaining all the steps.
The document is not meant to replace an enterprise backup system or specialized bundled backup products that are available in the market, however it's a good starting point for small companies that need to secure their data in a cost effective manner, since all the process described can be done out of the box with Solaris 10 or OpenSolaris, with no extra fee or software.
