Open Application Service

Open Application Service: Deploying Open Source on Sun Servers

Launching new Web services can prove challenging given IT budget constraints. The demand for services starts small but often increases rapidly as acceptance skyrockets. If the supporting infrastructure fails to scale in sync with demand, response times can become inconsistent. Fortunately, open source solutions have evolved and scale well to support consistent performance and growth. GlassFish, PostgreSQL, the Solaris™ 10 Operating System (OS), Sun StorageTek™ 2500 series arrays, and Sun's new multi-threaded UltraSPARC® T2 Plus servers form a low-cost, scalable infrastructure for delivering new Web-based services.
