Sun Blade 8000 Family

Hi,

it would be nice to see information about the Blade 6000 Firmware (Chassis CMM as well as X6250 Bios / ILOM) roadmap.

The current versions a fare behind the X4200 M2
Bios / ILOM Product quality.

I agree 100%. Our Chassis and X6250s work great, but we've had issues with the ILOM (mostly storage redirection).

This seems like a simple question, but I cannot find the answer so far.

Do the blades in the Sun Blade 6000 chassis only communicate between themselves using an external networking fabric or is there an internal bus that allows for faster networking connections?

Would load balancing still take place through an external network fabric or is there something internally?

Thanks, Daniel

There Sun Blade 6000 chassis is designed based on PCIe chassis mid plane. It supports industry standard PCIe ExpressModule that makes it easy to connect to external networking switches of your choice. There is no provision for internal switching fabric that tends to limit flexibility and compatibility with your existing networking environment.

Load balancing will typically reside external to the chassis in this case.

Please take a look at the I/O architecture of Sun Blade here.

This dramatically simplify blade chassis architecture, making it more flexible and reliable with little management overhead.

Regards,
Francis
