Software Stack Information for the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 Server

The Software Stack platform specific components for the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 Server consist of the Operating System, System Firmware, Virtualization and System Management components, along with common components like Compilers, Java Enterprise System, Middleware and other Software Tools. Updating any one of these individual components that make up the Software Stack may require others to also be updated. Firmware The System Firmware that ships on your Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 should be updated to the latest version available. The Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 Server may be shipped from the factory with an older version of the System Firmware. To locate and download the latest version of the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 System Firmware, go to the BigAdmin Patching Center Firmware Download and Release History page. Follow the firmware upgrade instructions in the firmware patch README and Install.Info text files. Systems Management Sun Management Center is supported on the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440. The Common Config Reader Add-on is required. The latest version of this Add-On can be downloaded from the BigAdmin Patching Center Systems Management page. An SNMP Agent is also available for this server. The latest version of SNMP can be downloaded from the BigAdmin Patching Center SNMP page. Virtualization Logical Domains (LDoms) virtualization technology is available for the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440. The latest version of LDoms along with release notes and detailed documentation and installation information can be downloaded from the LDoms download page. Diagnostics & Serviceability Sun Pre-Emptive Prognostics 1.0 is available for the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440. Sun Pre-Emptive Diagnostics analyzes time series telemetry data collected from a variety of physical and logical sensors on the system, such as temperatures, voltages, currents and fan speeds. It improves upon the false/missed alarm rates seen with fixed-threshold monitoring techniques and detects subtle degradation modes of system components that otherwise cannot be caught. The I/O Remapping Script for SPARC Enterprise T5440 Servers 1.0 is used when a CPU node is removed or added to remap device paths hard coded in the /etc/path_to_inst file and the symlinks under /dev directory. This allows recovery from the I/O loss and avoids having to reinstall the Solaris OS.
